What’s Up at Taos Pharmacy?
Column #320, 6/14/07
by Jake Mossman, Owner of Taos Pharmacy
Our remodeling project is in full swing at Taos Pharmacy and the changes are generating lots of questions from our customers. Most of the questions involve the phrase "what are you doing?" We are undertaking a major remodel of the spaces we occupy in Piñon Plaza. The pharmacy area will receive a major facelift with new offices for our support personnel, upgraded facilities in the prescription production area, and new heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting for the comfort of our customers and employees. We will literally be renewed from floor to ceiling.
However, what we are most excited about are the changes involving the Total Health and Wellness Center of Taos. We will create private and group consultation areas for our patient education and clinical services. We will expand our compounding lab to stand alone as a separately licensed compounding pharmacy. These changes will allow us to greatly expand our patient-oriented services. We will continue to provide lipid profile testing to monitor cholesterol levels, A1c levels to monitor blood glucose control for diabetics, and INR levels to monitor the degree of coagulation control for patients on anti-coagulation therapy. We will be able to increase our hours available for patient education in areas such as smoking cessation, asthma and diabetes. We will have greater accessibility for vaccination services. We will increase the hours for our prescription compounding services.
Most exciting, however, will be the opportunity for us to add new services. Some possibilities include adding bone density monitoring and medication therapy management services. We hope to conduct classes in disease state management. Our services, as always, will be driven by the needs of our community. We will continue to listen to the health care needs expressed by our customers and fellow Taosenos. We want to become the premier preventative medicine and wellness center in northern New Mexico. Our primary goal is to improve the health of our communities, one person at a time. We feel very strongly that it makes much more sense to avoid disease than to deal with it. We also feel that if you must be treated for disease, we should help you get the most out of your investment in treatment.
THE TOTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER OF TAOS IS HERE FOR YOUR HEALTH!
