Drink plenty of water - The same dry air that makes the climate here so comfortable makes it more important to stay well hydrated. Drinking water can keep your skin, respiratory tract, and internal organs healthier.
Get some exercise - You don't have to be a gym rat to derive benefit from exercise. Exercise at work does not count. You must increase your heart rate. Your breathing should be such that you can answer a question but cannot carry on a conversation without pausing. Even three hours a week of exercise will be of benefit.
Learn to relax - Relaxing should be a conscious act. Close your eyes, breathe in deeply through your nose and slowly out through your mouth. Repeat this three times. Do this a couple of times each day. When you get home, take a few minutes to lie still and "inventory" your body. Feel areas of tension and concentrate on relaxing them. Just a few minutes a day will help you release stress.
Eat more fruit and vegetables - Eat fruit and veggies with each meal and morning and afternoon snacks. Five servings per day of fruits and vegetables have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer.
Get enough sleep - A recent study showed that the average American is getting less than six and one-half hours of sleep per night. Less than eight hours per night of sleep has been shown to increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
