Prescription Services

The heart of our business is our prescription service. We believe that helping you understand and reach your treatment goals is our primary purpose. We focus on the effectiveness of your treatment. We want you to ask questions about your therapy so we can work together to maximize the desired effect and minimize undesired side effects. We don't just fill your prescription, we monitor for side effects and effectiveness. Our pharmacists are available to answer questions and guide your health care decisions. Following are brief descriptions of just some of the services we offer when you fill a prescription at Taos Pharmacy.

We review your prescription file to screen for dangerous drug interactions before you receive your medication. We also review for the time elapsed since your last refill to assure the proper use of the medication. Over-the-counter medication and natural product recommendations will be made with your prescription therapies in mind to avoid dangerous side effects or drug interactions.

We will inform you when a lower-cost generic or over-the-counter product is available. We will also inform you when your insurance company prefers a different drug and will pay a larger share of the cost. With your approval, we will make recommendations to your physician that can save you money.

We offer our Leader Card prescription discount program to save you money on your medications. For a low annual fee of $29.95 for an individual or $39.95 for a family, you can save up to 20% off the usual retail price on your prescriptions. (In some cases we may already be offering the deepest possible discount and will not be able to offer additional savings.) Compounded and non-prescription medications are not covered by this plan. In addition, you get a 20% discount on all Leader® brand over-the-counter products. No other discount card (AARP, Peoples Prescription Card, etc.) offers you savings on over-the-counter products and in many cases our discounts exceed those of the other programs.

We are Taos' only compounding pharmacy. We prepare prescription and non-prescription products designed for your individual needs from bulk chemical or natural products.
